POSITION INFORMATION:
Highly qualified elementary school teacher needed to teach 6th grade. Teacher must hold a valid Elementary Education (1-8) grade certification or secondary certification and a valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
3. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation.
4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to address the individuals or student groups involved. 6. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. 7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
8. Ascertain possible learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
9. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
10. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
11. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
12. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
13. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) in cooperation with department heads, evaluates their job performance.
14. Maintains professionalism by participating in all faculty meetings.
15. Collaborates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
16. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
17. Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
18. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
19. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with community, colleagues, and administration.
20. Provides for his/her professional growth through an on-going program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
21. Other responsibilities as determined by the Principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten months. Salary and work year to be established by the Governing Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy.
