QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Hold a valid Arizona Elementary or Secondary Teaching certification with endorsement or subject area of Math indicated on certification.  Middle school math endorsement preferred.

 

REPORTS TO:

 

Principal or as otherwise assigned by the superintendent.

 

JOB GOAL:

 

To create and maintain a learning environment that supports students toward the fulfillment of their potential for academic achievement, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1.  Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
  2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  3. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation.
  4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to address the individuals or student groups including all district initiatives such as Cognitive Guided Instruction (CGI) and Thinking Maps.
  6. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  8. Ascertain possible learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
  9. Through the use of Gallileo and formative assessment, evaluates and monitors student progress on a regular basis.
  10. Evaluates student and plans for effective instruction through the structure of Professional Learning communities (PLC).
  11. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and procedures.
  12. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.  Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
  13. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) in cooperation with department heads, evaluates their job performance.
  14. Maintains professionalism by participating in all faculty meetings.
  15. Collaborates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
  16. Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
  17. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  18. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with community, colleagues, and administration.
  19. Provides for his/her professional growth through an on-going program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
  20. Other responsibilities as determined by the Principal.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year in accordance with the currently approved professional salary placement schedule and work calendar. 

 

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of professional staff.
