QUALIFICATIONS:                       

 

  1. 2+ years related experience
  2. Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certification, Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS), or any MCP certifications
  3. Associate's Degree or highter in Information Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  4. Bilingual preferred.

 

REPORTS TO:                     Director of Technology                    

 

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:    The Information Technology Specialist II performs analytical, technical, and adminstrative work in the installation of new and existing personal computer systems.  Responds to customer reported incidents; confers with end users to determine types of hardware and software required; installs new hardware and software and maintains existing componets.  Performs general maintenance tasks; troubleshoots and resolves issues with computer systems and peripheral equipment located throughout the organization; prepares progress reports for all work performed; evaluates products for compatibility, expandability, and ease of use and support; recommends to management the support or nonsupport of evaluated products.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff in the use ofcomputer hardware and software.
  2. Diagnose and resolve day to day operations issues.
  3. Research solutions using knowledge bases, white papers, and vendor documentation.
  4. Serve as liaison between technical staff and end users to resolve customer/user problems and concerns.
  5. May manage departmental desktops.
  6. Provide input in determining technology needs of the department.
  7. May assist users with software issues for a predefined set of software.
  8. Work on complex problems/issues and offer appropriate solutions.
  9. May coordinate or lead projects of moderate technical complexity.
  10. May develop and provide basic or intermediate user training.
  11. Participate in the development of effective processes and procedures.
  12. Research and recommend information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.
  13. Maintain accurate documentations for system installations, configurations, upgrades and disaster recovery activities.
  14. Provide technical guidance to subordinates or users.
  15. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve months; paid on Classified Exempt Placement Schedule column IV.  Employee benefits in accordance with Board policy.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of support staff.
