TITLE: Human Resources Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related human resources field or
- Three years of experience working in human resources or related field.
- Proficiency in working with human resources information systems including but not limited to Visions, Talented Recruit and Hire, Talented Records or other human resources related data systems.
- Proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft office;
- Must be knowledgeable of State and Federal employment law.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Speak, read and write Spanish preferred
REPORTS TO: Administrator of Human Resources
JOB GOAL: Under the general direction of the Administrator of Human Resources will contribute to the effective operations of the Office of Human Resources and the District. Provide support to the education function by maintaining a high quality onboarding process and supporting staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts transactions with employees and the general public requiring knowledge of rules, procedures, policies, and State and Federal laws related to employment and compensation.
- Responsible for managing the hiring process including all technical and electronic processes.
- Maintains human resources department data including the Hire/Termination Summary database.
- Assists with the District talent acquisition by supporting the marketing and recruitment effort.
- Performs pre-employment duties such as recruitment, pre-screening, interviewing, testing and employment background checks.
- Assists certified staff with certification requirements
- Assists in insuring certified and classified staff are compliant with certification requirements and maintains appropriate records and reports.
- Serves as the District administrator of the Absence Management absence and substitute calling system.
- Trains new employees and substitutes in utilizing the Absence Management absence line and substitute calling system.
- Assists in maintaining and updating job descriptions.
- Assist in conducting new employee orientation including employment onboarding.
- Serves as human resources link to Business Services (data processing and distribution).
- Assists in the maintenance of district position control.
- Completes and enters ePAR data into human resource and payroll system.
- Enters ePARs as required.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and ethical behavior of information about employees.
- Any additional duties as assigned by the Administrator of Human Resources.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve months, beginning salary grade 7 on the Classified Hourly Placement Salary Schedule. Employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.
